Scope of pedagogical activity of judges

The pedagogical, scientific, or creative activity of a judge is important both in terms of sharing knowledge and for the professional development of a judge. Although the law grants the judge the right to pedagogical activity, it depends entirely on their integrity on how they’ll balance judicial and pedagogical activities so as not to delay consideration of cases within a reasonable time.

It is interesting how much judges are engaged in pedagogical activities. To answer this question, we studied the part of the declarations filled out by the judges of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and city courts, in which they indicate pedagogical, scientific, or creative activities.

Supreme Court of Georgia

• Ltd "Law and Justice Training Center", trainer. From 01.10.2021 to 30.11.2021 salary – 2160 GEL;
• High School of Justice, teacher. From 01.01.2021 to 31.01.2021 salary – 180 GEL.

Tbilisi Court of Appeals

• High School of Justice, trainer. From 11.06.2021 to 13.06.2021 salary - 480 GEL, salary.

Kutaisi Appeal Court

• Invited lecturer of Ilia State University. From 01.01.2021 to 31.12.2021 salary – 3360 GEL;
• Invited lecturer of Ivane javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. From 01.01.2021 to 31.12.2021 salary - 864 GEL.

Batumi City Court

Kutaisi City Court

As of September 2022, the judges of the Kutaisi City Court have no pedagogical or scientific activities.
