On December 9, 2021, the Georgian Court Watch presented a report to the public on the results of monitoring the processes of the Gori District Court.
With the support of USAID/PROLoG, the organization implemented the project “Initiation of Court Monitoring by Citizens”, the main task of which was to create a tool for citizens’ participation in the development process of the courts. The project focused only on the Gori district court, where volunteers monitored court proceedings. It should be noted that this is the first attempt in Georgia, when the report was made based on the findings of volunteer citizens attending court proceedings for monitoring.
Volunteers of the “Georgian Court Watch” attended the proceedings in the Gori District Court from October 18 to November 5, 2021, observing a total of 69 court sessions (including 38 criminal cases, 26 civil cases, and 5 administrative cases).
