The signatory organizations confirm their readiness to engage in the process of timely and complete implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission

12.07.2022

We believe that today, at a turning point for the country, the only priority is to obtain the status of a candidate country for the European Union at the end of the year. To achieve this goal, timely and complete implementation of the recommendations determined by the European Commission is necessary. Therefore, all the efforts of the government, opposition, and civil society should be directed toward this goal. While there may be differing views on the ways to achieve the goal, there are issues that are clear from the recommendations themselves, leaving no room for further interpretation.

Clause 10 of the European Commission's recommendation envisages the effective involvement of civil society in the decision-making process on all other clauses. At the initiative of the government, the chairman of the parliament took responsibility for the coordination and effective involvement of civil organizations.

We have been working for years on the issues determined by the recommendations of the European Commission. Our thematic studies, prepared reports, views, and opinions formed as a result of observation will be an important contribution to the proper management of reforms and changes, taking into account the needs of Georgia.

We, the signatory organizations, confirm our readiness to participate in the implementation process of the 12-point plan of the European Commission and appeal to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia:

As soon as possible, organize a working meeting with public organizations to exchange opinions on the format of involvement in civil society processes and the procedures for further work.
