On October 19, 2023, the the Georgian Court Watch held a public meeting in Telavi with the representatives of the local civil society, lawyers and students regarding the role of the court and actual issues of judicial reform.
The event was opened by Nazi Janezashvili, the director of the Georgian Court Watch, and spoke about the project Judicial Effectiveness Index. The lawyers of the organization, Anna Chikovani and Megi Shamatava, conducted a presentation of the study prepared by the Court Watch, based on which the efficiency of the common courts was evaluated by a scoring system. Herewith it should be noted that the process of systematic assessment of the judiciary included not only data collection through the public information, as well as visits to all courts of Georgia (65 in total). Georgian Court Watch conducts regular awareness raising activities for the media, students and community representatives about the challenges in the judicial system.
